If you want to contribute, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org link to your GitHub (or other VCS service you're using) in which you have a working Hello World in one of the technologies that are being used by us (it depends on which project you want to join).
The two main projects are written in Spring, so if it's your first time with Spring it'd be better for you to make the Hello World in it before you jump into our project. It will make things easier for you :)
If you are interested in development of mobile apps (eg Android), include a working Hello World for the same reason.
We also have a projects for DevOpses, it will be enough for us if you've used linux for a couple of months.
There is a project for frontend developers too, we use Angular.
Once you push a Hello World to your GitHub, choose any task that is in column "Open" from any project and add a link to your email. Just choose something that you feel you'd like to learn. You can just change it once you join to us.
Everything we do is for educational purposes. In our free time we share knowledge in a group of around 200 people. We think that it's better to make a couple of big projects in group instead of making N small projects alone. When you code alone, no one reviews your code, so if you do something wrong, no one will correct you and you will keep making the same mistakes.
When you make a Hello World and choose the task, we will invite you to our group on Slack
There is a bot called @howdy which twice a week asks people how are things going. Please reply to this bot, because otherwise we won't know if you're just busy or won't contribute anymore. By default we are going to assume the latter so you won't block the tasks and other people progress.
The group is for active people that want to learn something. Everyone can do us, but not everyone can stay.
We expect a total minimum commitment - 2h per week (which may not be enough to think about programming as a way of making money).
All in all, you need to do the following to get invited:
link to the task of your choice from "Open" column
link to your VCS with hello world (or preferably something more ambitious) in one of the technologies that we use or a declaration that you use linux.
humongous desire to learn and a lot of free time
account on elenx.net (register with the same email that you used to write to us)
Please do not write to this e-mail once you have an access to Slack, ask any further questions in #general channel.
The first answer is always automated. If you don't get an invitation once you send a VCS link (e.g GitHub) along with link to chosen task, just write again. On of our staff members will write back to you soon.
Microsoft's mail servers (outlook.com, hotmail.com, ...) reject our emails therefore we are not able to respond to them.
